Montreal has been buzzing with talented local artists, many of whom are recognized on an international level but are overlooked locally - overlooked until now that is. Louise Royer founded Royer Objet Et Trouvailles, located on 207 Laurier Avenue West, this past June.

Royer felt the need to showcase Montreal's hidden artistic talent. While travelling abroad she noticed that other countries had great respect for their local artists, something that was missing in Montreal. By opening her boutique, Royer has created a platform for local artists to
publicize their great artistic abilities. Her boutique displays the work of over 70 artists that goes well beyond the concept of painting as an art form.

Marie-Helene Beaulieu's "Vase Suspendu," for instance, looks alluring and can be hung up on a wall. Nancy Daigneault's beautifully polished and intricately embroidered geese eggs function as musical jewellery boxes. And Lampi-Lampa's use of faucets and martini-shakers can be used as lamps inspired by the art of recuperation. These utilitarian art pieces can add a unique touch to any home.

Most of the available artwork is part of a limited edition and ranges from $195 to $5000. Items from the boutique are both visually appealing and of the highest quality. Francis Camire's wood-turned vases, for instance, took over four years in the making; wood had to be dried in a particular manner to get Camire's desired effect.

Jean-Paul Lessard offers the service of helping clients improve the quality of their own antiques. But what if clients hold items that are of sentimental value but no longer of any use? Lessard can revamp the object into a new lamp so that it has a more updated,
practical use in the home.

For those not looking to shop, the boutique is a must-see regardless. Browse through Marie St-Pierre's award-winning jewellery, read some of Francis Pelletier's poetic greeting cards or learn about ancient worldwide board games. The boutique offers visitors the opportunity to revel in Montreal's artistic talent while the wide array of eye-catching objects will leave clients breathless.
